The Studio
Primary Studio is a multidisciplinary space in Montreal bringing together hairstyling, photography and visual practice. The studio approaches hair as a form of design—rooted in craft, precision and authorship—where each cut and image is considered, intentional and contextual.
Practice
Led by artists working across technique, culture, and identity, the studio develops work through long-term collaboration and careful inquiry. Practice is shaped by curiosity and continuity rather than trend, treating style as something constructed over time through process, care and shared exploration.
Founder
Miguel Perez founded Primary Studio in 2021 and brings over eight years of experience to his practice. A Montreal-based creative, he approaches haircutting as a design discipline grounded in precision and innovation. Through education and self-taught, hands-on experience, he has refined his approach through observation, repetition, and collaboration. Driven by a passion for sharing knowledge, he now educates students worldwide.
